The Alpha Esquires program is designed to create leaders in our community. Throughout the year, Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha will create and facilitate educational and social opportunities aimed at preparing young males 12-18 for a bright and successful future. The Alpha Esquires meet monthly for discussions, workshops, outings, and community service projects as well as perform at various NPHC Auxiliary organization events.

The Alpha Esquire Leadership Development Program actually started as the Alpha Teens. Many Alpha chapters around the country have Alpha Teen groups, however our Grand Rapids group was inspired by Esquire groups in Detroit and Flint, Michigan.
Alpha ESQuire was started in 2010 in Grand Rapids, Michigan under the leadership of Bro. Jason McGhee as an organization to nurture, protect and develop the talents and skills of the good young men in our community.

LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP EXCELLENCE
The Plummer, Letts, Parks Leadership (PLP) Fund, a non-profit 501c(3) organization, is committed to enhancing educational opportunities for youth in the Grand Rapids area. The PLP Fund was founded under the leadership of Alpha Phi Alpha Eta Nu Lambda chapter. the PLP Scholarship Committee seeks to award scholarships to students in the Grand Rapids area pursuing higher education. To help fund these efforts and maintain success, PLP in partnership with Alpha Phi Alpha host events annually.
Since its inception, the PLP Leadership Fund has raised nearly $25,000 and awarded numerous scholarships to youth within our community seeking to attend an institution of higher learning.
